Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 7, 2026

1. Overview

CAP (Canonical Attribution Pattern) is a service provided by Signetra. CAP enables users to create and publish records of association between themselves and digital items.

CAP does not determine ownership, authorship, or truth. CAP operates solely as a registry of user-asserted associations.

By using CAP, you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. Definitions

Digital Item
Any file, media, or content submitted by a user to CAP.
Private Evaluation Environment
The internal system where submitted Digital Items are processed and evaluated.
Private Evaluative State
All internal data, representations, and evaluations generated by CAP. This data is not publicly accessible.
Limited Data Subset
A reduced dataset derived from the Digital Item, excluding internal evaluative data.
Public Attribution Artifact
A publicly accessible record generated from the Limited Data Subset, representing a user's claim of association.
Association
A user-asserted connection between themselves and a Digital Item. Association does not imply ownership, authorship, or rights.

3. Nature of the Service

CAP provides a system for users to submit Digital Items, generate Public Attribution Artifacts, and establish publicly accessible records of association.

CAP does not verify ownership, validate claims, determine authorship, or act as an authority of truth. All associations are user-asserted only.

4. Eligibility and Accounts

  • Users must be at least 18 years old
  • Account registration is required
  • Email registration is required
  • Users are responsible for all activity under their account

CAP may introduce additional verification requirements at any time.

5. User Representations

By submitting a Digital Item, you represent that you own or control sufficient rights to submit the Digital Item at the time of upload, and that your submission does not violate applicable laws or third-party rights.

You are solely responsible for any claims you make through CAP.

6. Attribution Rights

Users may state that they are associated with a Digital Item.

Users may not state or imply ownership, authorship, certification, verification by CAP, or legal rights or exclusivity. CAP does not endorse or validate any claim.

7. System Process

A Digital Item is considered "sent through CAP" when it is uploaded by a user, processed within the Private Evaluation Environment, generates internal data stored in the Private Evaluative State, produces a Limited Data Subset, is transmitted through a one-way outbound communication channel, and results in a Public Attribution Artifact.

No feedback path exists from the public environment to the private system.

8. Data Handling

Public Data

Public Attribution Artifacts may remain publicly accessible. CAP may accommodate removal requests at its discretion.

Private Data

CAP retains all data within the Private Evaluative State. This data is not publicly accessible and is not removed upon takedown. CAP may retain internal data for system integrity, security, and operational purposes.

9. License to CAP

By submitting a Digital Item, you grant CAP a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license solely for processing the Digital Item, generating Public Attribution Artifacts, and displaying those artifacts.

CAP may use anonymized data to improve system performance. CAP does not obtain ownership of your Digital Items.

10. Public Display and Branding

Users may display CAP-generated artifacts and reference their association. Users may not claim CAP endorsement or use language implying verification or certification.

CAP may provide branding guidelines, which users must follow.

11. Multiple Claims

Multiple users may claim association with the same Digital Item. CAP does not prioritize claims, resolve conflicts, or determine validity.

12. Prohibited Conduct

Users may not upload content they do not have rights to submit, attempt to reverse engineer CAP systems, attempt to recreate internal evaluative data, probe or test system behavior through bulk or abusive submissions, or attempt to manipulate or game the system.

13. Enforcement

CAP may, at its sole discretion, reject submissions, throttle usage, suspend accounts, permanently ban users, or remove public artifacts. CAP may act without notice.

14. Takedown and Complaints

CAP may respond to DMCA takedown requests, court orders, and reports of abuse or fraud. CAP may remove public artifacts but has no obligation to investigate or resolve disputes, and does not determine ownership or truth.

15. Termination

CAP may terminate or suspend access immediately for severe violations, with or without notice. Users may terminate their account at any time.

16. Commercial Use

Users may sell Digital Items, license Digital Items, and reference CAP artifacts in agreements. CAP does not guarantee legal enforceability, ownership validation, or accuracy of claims.

17. No Guarantees

CAP does not guarantee persistence of associations across all transformations, recognition by third-party platforms or AI systems, or protection against misuse by others. CAP is designed to improve association survivability, not ensure it.

18. Disclaimer of Liability

CAP is provided "as is." CAP disclaims ownership verification, legal determinations, and accuracy of user claims. Users assume all risk related to their use of CAP.

19. Arbitration and Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. All disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration. No class actions are permitted.

20. Changes to Terms

CAP may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of CAP constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
